Special incomes — by period of accrual drives 234C→425 timing

Enter each gain/receipt in the window it arose (or is expected). Regular income above is treated as accruing evenly; these are not.

Advance tax / self-assessment tax paid

Add each challan with its date — payments land in the correct instalment automatically. Payments after 31 March count as self-assessment tax and reduce 234B→424 prospectively.

Common questions

How is 234C interest calculated on capital gains?

Capital gains enter the instalment schedule only from the window in which they arise — a gain booked in January creates no June/September/December shortfall. Interest runs at 1% per month for three months per deferred instalment (one month for March). This calculator captures gains period-wise and applies the rule automatically.

What are the advance tax due dates for F.Y. 2026-27?

15 June (15%), 15 September (45%), 15 December (75%) and 15 March (100%), cumulatively. Presumptive taxpayers under 44AD/44ADA pay the entire amount by 15 March. Resident senior citizens without business income are exempt.

What is the safe harbour in 234C?

No interest applies on the first instalment if you paid at least 12% of the tax due, and on the second if at least 36% — even if below the 15%/45% marks. The calculator flags when a small top-up would have engaged the safe harbour.
