5%Merit rate — packaged foods, toiletries, medicines, garments ≤ ₹2,500, footwear, agri inputs
18%Standard rate — most services, electronics, vehicles, building materials
40%Demerit — aerated drinks, luxury vehicles, betting/online money gaming

Common questions

What are the GST rates after September 2025?

The 12% and 28% slabs are gone: essentials at nil/5%, the standard rate 18%, and a 40% demerit rate for aerated drinks, luxury vehicles and specified actionable claims. Gold stays at 3%. This finder gives the current rate by description.

What is the GST rate on bajra and other millets?

Nil when sold loose; 5% when pre-packaged and labelled — the loose-versus-packaged line runs through most staples. The finder notes it on every such item, and you can search in Hindi/Gujarati words typed in English: bajro, chawal, gud.
